Čachtice Castle is today a ruin on a limestone-dolomite hill (375 m above sea level) in the Small Carpathians between the villages of Čachtice and Višňové. Čachtice Castle was built in the first half of the 13th century. It was among the first castles that secured the western border of Hungary. From 1569, the Nádasdy family owned the castle together with the adjoining manor house in Častkovce. The famous Elisabeth Báthory was the wife of Ferenc Nádasdy.
