Vígľaš Castle rises powerfully on Javorie hill near Zvolen. The favorite residence of the five Hungarian kings changed not only its appearance but also its function over the centuries. Until today, only part of the Gothic chapel and fortifications from the 16th century have been preserved from their original state. The building was (generously) reconstructed from complete ruins. It was included in the list of National Cultural Monuments and is the only one of its kind in Slovakia.
